Hi,
We were going over the REC manual draft dated May 28, 2019 and came up with a couple of questions...
1. What is the time limit for the autonomous and driver controlled periods? In one place it says 30 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds, and in a couple other places it says 30 seconds and 2 minutes.
2. Is the goal with balance scales to get one side up and the other down? In the match scoring section, it says "At the conclusion of the match, and after each robot is no longer making contact with any field element, 10 bonus points will be awarded to the team for each balance scale bucket of theirs that is in contact with the field surface." Or could both buckets be removed from the scales?
3. Any more details on the buckets or how they will be attached to the balance scales? It says buckets will be 6" in diameter and 4" in height. Is that a certain type of bucket? What about the handle? What would be the distance from the top lip of the bucket to the underside of the handle? How is the bucket secured to the end of the beam?
4. On blocking the other team, it says three things that are confusing. Under the driver controlled period section, it says; teams must maintain a clear path to the buckets, blocking a bucket for defensive purposes is prohibited, and a team may block access to the arms of the balance scale as the only defensive blocking permitted. So you can't block the bucket but you can block the arms as long as you maintain a clear path the scale?
5. On the balance scales, there is a lot of play between the scale lever and the fulcrum piece front to back. Does the lever start centered on the fulcrum?
Thank you!
Matt
